Trap line ride-along and education course 2017
This is not an Academy, this is an individual ride-along with a professional full-time fur harvester. It will provide on-the-line education and trapping experience.
The ride-along will be in Western South Dakota on ground that I actively fur trap on. This is the ground that helps produce hundreds of coyotes on my line annually. We will be checking active coyote traps and snares, along with adding new sets as we go. I personally will be working along with you to help develop and improve your trapping skills.

Ride-alongs will be scheduled in two day increments starting January 31, 2017 thru April 2, 2017
Ride-alongs are not available from March 9, 2017 to March 13, 2017
Room and Board will be provided on the trap line. These will be rustic accommodations. I have a shack out on the line that we will be staying in. I will provide you with a hotel to stay in when you arrive the day before the ride.
On the day of your ride-along I will pick you up at the hotel and we will head out to the line, returning two days later. The ride-along will encompass a variety of terrain. You will need to bring appropriate clothing and footwear. Conditions on the line can be challenging due to weather, terrain and other potential issues that are beyond my control; please plan, and dress, accordingly. I will provide all trap line equipment needed while running and setting the line.
This course is all based on the trap line. I believe this is where you will gain the most valuable knowledge of where, why and how sets are placed. The days will be spent checking, resetting and putting new sets in the ground. We will be focusing on coyotes, with instruction also provided on bobcat sets. Our bobcat season will be closed during the ride-alongs, so we will be setting sets and then removing them prior to departing the area. The trap line will also target other species in the area including: fox, badger, skunk and raccoon. We will go over leg hold trapping, DP’s and snaring.
Cost: $1195.00 including sales tax. Services provided include one night at a hotel (upon arrival) and a night in the shack as well as meals on the line. Meals will be basic and likely to include sack lunches and a simple breakfast. The accommodations on the line are limited due to the remote locations. A nonrefundable deposit of $600.00 is due upon booking and final payment is due by January 1, 2017.
A waiver of liability and no compete clause will need to be signed upon arrival.
